Donation Management center opens in Portage for tornado victims

A Donations Management Center is open to accept and distribute donations to those affected by the tornado.

LOCATION: 9246 Portage Industrial Dr., Portage MI 49024

HOURS: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday


Families and individuals impacted by the tornado can contact the donations hotline at (269) 251-2211. A donation management center representative will gather information about the caller and their needs.


Food and clothing will not be accepted at the donation management center. The following items are:

  • Gift cards in $50 increments to Meijer, Target and Walmart, so affected families may purchase new items to meet their individual needs.

  • First Aid Supplies

  • Supplies for babies, infants and new or expecting mothers, such as diapers, baby wipes, formula, lactation supplies and children’s bath materials

  • Paper products, such as toilet paper, paper towels and wipes

  • Moving materials, like grocery bags, packing tape and bubble wrap

  • Toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, black hair care products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, razors, deodorant, combs/brushes, Q-Tip’s, soap, hygiene packs, family planning and adult diapers

  • Cleaning supplies, including disinfecting wipes, cleaning solutions, garbage bags, laundry detergent, dish soap, buckets, mops, brooms and dustpans

  • Household items like batteries and flashlights

  • Pet food, cat litter, puppy pads, bowls and leashes

  • Building supplies, such as work gloves, goggles, face shields, tarps, plywood and tools

  • Bulk water

The Donations Management Center WILL NOT take donations of food, clothing, toys, small appliances, or furniture.


ALL food donations should be donated to Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes at 901 Portage St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001.For people needing food assistance, please call the Loaves & Fishes food line at 269-343-3663 or email info@kzoolf.org.


All clothing, furniture, and small appliances can be donated to Goodwill. Secondhand items can be donated to any Goodwill in the Kalamazoo/Portage area and receive a receipt for tax deduction. Individuals affected by the tornadoes will be eligible for a voucher to local Goodwill stores to help families replace items lost in the storms.
